If you notice, the location of the speaker grill is much higher on the Tahoe than it is on your vehicle. Also, the Tahoe is much taller than the Yukon XL box, and is closer to the curve for the wheel housing.

jdpber, I'm not trying to take $100 out of your pocket, but based on some concurrent threads and recent posts made by zieglerj-pdm-specialist, I think he is looking for a box for a Suburban, which isn't the same as a Tahoe.

Hah, Yeah I know how that goes. Don't take measurements just for me though, I have a long wheel base.

It's kind of a difficult box to measure, because it is not a box. It is a generally L shaped object with multiple facets where no two sides are the same. It has to taper around the back side of the fuel inlet stamping, as well as taper in conformance with the general barrel shape of the body. Because of these gradual tapers, it is hard to report measurments that are meaningful enough to provide a box builder with adequate info to duplicate a box that is sure to fit behind the interior trim panel.

The longest measurement across the interior face width is 17.25". The tallest measurement is 9.25". The deepest measurement is 9". The shallowest measurement is 3". The narrowest measurement across the back width is 7". Yet these measurments are meaningless as they include the lips and dips, and yet cannot acount for the bows, bends, and tapers that enable the box to fit. That's probably why no one wants to take measurments... it is just too hard to account for all of the sculpting that is necessary to make a box that fits.

Hence the long standing suggestion is to either get a factory box used, or take apart your own interior trim, press some big block soft styrofoam against your panels to make a mold, and fiberglass fabricate your own box.

Not many fab their own enclosure that hides behind the Suburban/YukonXL interior quarter panel. I've seen people do it for the Tahoe/Yukon. I've seen where even MTX has made an enclosure for the Tahoe/Yukon. I've seen where one member here attempted to fab their own enclosure for inside the rear quarter panel of the Suburban/YukonXL... but he abandoned the project half way through.

I'm assuming part of the difficulty in making an enclosure with enough cu ft volume to be an improvement over stock is due to the integrated storage compartment incorporated into the interior plastic trim panel in the Suburban/YukonXL, directly above where the factory subwoofer resides. That, and the metal mounting bracket that holds the panel under said compartment, and the jacktools, and the wheel well... all conspire to reduce the available space for a subwoofer cabinet to be hidden.

And hiding is half the idea. Once the fabbed enclosure becomes externalized, the thieves peering through the window will know that if someone took that much trouble to fab that enclosure with that big 10" or 12" or 15" circle on it, then there must be a heck of a nice and expensive amp under a seat somewhere driving that puppy. SMASH goes the glass.

For those who desire stealth, and a sub box that is completely out of the way of cargo, kids, and livestock... the factory sub box from 2000-2002 is really the way to go, other than going with a JL Stealthbox under the center console... which is a monumentally larger installation project that requires cutting up internal structural portions of the center console for it to fit.

Some people don't want to commit that much carnage for the sake of a stereo. Some people are looking for drop in, plug in, and play. I'll admit I'm one of those people. The Tahoe/Yukon owner's have a choice between a premade aftermarket enclosure that hides behind the rear quarter panel (MTX Thunderform), or the GM factory subwoofer box from 2000-2002. The long wheel base Suburban/YukonXL owners only have the GM option, or make their own.

I've now only read of one person who actually completed their own enclosure on a long wheel base... and even that wasn't exactly stealth, as they relocated the original driver location, enlarged it, and deleted the cubby hole and jack.
