CV/Drive shaft question

What's it sound like when you have a bad one? I hear a knocking sound like something is loose from my driver's side when I go over bumps, nothing when I turn. Also, from the parts I've looked up, it looks like we just have a half shaft that we need to replace, not the whole thing. Is that right? If it's not that, where else could it be?

how does the sway bar link look? also look at the upper a arm bolt. strange i know but when i bought my truck the nut had one thread left holding it on. i could be wrong but in 2wd it wouldnt click or bump, due to no load..

You would have clicking when turning. If the noise knocks on bumps you have a worn out suspension bushing somewhere or a torsion bar insulator broken at the back of the bar.

Could be a loose ball joint too. That's what my truck does.

Check your shock mounts and bushings.

I bet sway bar link. Happened to my 2007 suburban.
