A "qualified" tech should be able to find whatever play in the front end there is. If the same mechanic has been replacing the CV shafts, 6 of them, I would find another tech(s) to go to.

I have never recommended a dealer tech unless it is a covered item under a warranty. There are qualified techs out there. Hell, I know I could find it if given a chance. I used to specialize in this type of diagnosis after some training from a very smart shop owner I worked for years ago. Steering, suspension and brakes were his bread and butter and he taught me more than I already thought I knew. Did you find your current tech by word of mouth thru friends? Try it again or post where you are, in Chicago, and someone here, close to you, may be able to recommend a shop.

Ok, so now hopefully a member or two here will chime in with some recommendations. Give it a little time.

Sounds like it needs a very close look at everything under the front. Look for accident damage, curb damage, front axle seals leaking points to a vibrating axle meaning bad wheel bearing or cv joints. Loose steering gear- have someone hold the shaft and gently turn steering wheel left and right a little to feel where the play stops. If no play in shaft then its steering gear if steering wheel moves and wheels don't. Jack up wheel and spin it by hand. then do the 3/9- 12/6 wobble shake test, while someone else looks at ball joints /tie rods/ idlers/ pittman for movement/play. Good luck.
