I have recently bought a 2002 Yukon....One of the fixes that I am planning to embark upon is fixing a past owners screw up. The dash appears that it had some sort of cb or external device velcroe-ed (sp) to the top of the dash and when removed that section appears "rough". The previous owner tried to paint the dash and the color did not match the stock interior color(tan & beige). So now I have a mustard dash that does not match the rest, I would have much rather had the rough sections on the matching dash. At this point I am thinking about four options.
1) trying to find the appropriate matching paint and re-paint the dash.
2) Buy a dash cover.
3) Try to buy replacement dash either new or used.
4) Removing paint from dash (non-acetone finger nail polish remover strips it down to black fyi)

Any suggestions would help...

Thanks

check with dealer or aftermarket paint place, most have the matching interior color paint.

Yeah the non acetone took it off when you use it on a rag, If your wanting to take the paint off then I would take a look at the one with acetone. It may make your work a little easier, but not sure if will harm the plastic.

im trying to make mine look like it came all black from the dealer. leaving the grain in the plastic and painting it a semi gloss black. Thats why im peeling the paint off the top of the dash. Thats the exact color i want. the rest ive painted.

How do i get the airbag and the handle above it out to paint? or do i have to paint them in there?

Airbag Stays in.....when you remove the A/C vent covers there are two small white tabs you have to push in while pulling the handle...Similar to pulling a headrest.

If youre located near KY I can hook you up with my buddy who painted my interior...

Wow, that looks pretty good. Do you know what kind of paint he used and what kind of prep work went into it.
