As I am putting together my front end lighting setup I was wondering something, I am going to have the top corners lit. Is it possible to break out the circuit for the daytime running lights and wire them into the top corners? I have tagged the thread that shows the mod for the corners where they are spliced to the lower corners. I dont mind have the lights on but dont want to run the new HID's all the time.
Any thoughts on this? has anyone had the daytime lights working somewhere else?

Ok now I think I want to do it and use LED's.
I have ordered the TYC headlights and bumpers and APC clear corners.
The DDM kit, harness and the high four kit.
I am ordering the LED's for the bumper lights and the lower corners.

Questions I have:

1. Does anyone have a diagram or explanation where the DRLs are located (I.E. where I can break into them to wire to the upper corners?

2. Will the 194 LED bulbs handle the DRL or will I have to put resistors in to step down the voltage?

Thanks for the help in advance

All the parts are here or in route so I am looking to do this in the next week. Does anyone here have an idea or better yet a picture of where I can break out the wiring for the daytime running lights?

unknown at this time.
Perhaps the tan wire entering each side headlight. They are the drls. And the 194 led will be fine on their own if they were designed to handle 12v.

Thanks I will look into that. I really hope it works It would be a bit different looking and make good use of the lenses.

I really appreciate your help.

So looking closely at this diagram I dont think it is the tan wire. The tan wire appears to be the power for both DRL and the head lights. If I am reading this right it would be the Yellow feed that comes out of the Daytime Running Light Module. Letter D I believe labeled headlight feed. If this is wrong please correct me. Any ideas where the DRLM is? Under the hood or behind the dash? I think it may be behind the dash as the p100 in the diagram seems to look like a grommet through the fire wall.

The parts are still rolling in for the lights and front end I am hoping to get this done either over the weekend or maybe take a day off next week. Your feedback and observations are most welcome.

Bah never mind! I am trying to get too cute. I was thinking of just the DRL and not the headlights. I dont care if the upper corners are lit all the time duh. I will go with the Tan wire. Much less headaches

Here is what I have so far:

DDM 35w 5k HID for the lows
Sylvania SilverStar ULTRA TWIN Halogen Headlight
All the amber LED bumper lights and LED amber bulbs for lower corners
Painless High 4 kit (will look like high 6 with upper corner mod)
TYC Elegante headlights and Bumper lights
TPC Clear corners (uppers waiting for mods)

Waiting for:

Clear LEDs for upper corners-ordered
Clear LEDs for taillights both brake/turns and reverse ( I like the OEM lights just updating the bulbs-ordered
Billet Grill inserts-ordered (Thanks Colby)
This brush guard

I also ordered today:

2 E flashers and the sockets with the pigtail wiring for the upper corners from RockAuto.
Wiring harness from DDM Just in case. I will use it for sure when I do the dual battery set up in the next few months.

I need to find fog lights for the new Brush Guard. I am thinking HID again but I am undecided. Anyone have a set they are in love with? Suggestions?

Ok anything I am missing? I have seen mention of resistors for the LEDs are the required and why? Where should I get them?

As it stands now as longs as the drl relay is on the headlights will always be on as well as anything you tap into it. If you want just the markers on wire them thru a relay off the ignition on feed and then disable your drl system. Like I said the low beams are the drls.

D is power from the headlight on/off switch. And the module is stashed inside the dash.

If the Led's are not rated for 12 volts the voltage has got to be knocked down so it work properly. 12v Led's incorporate the resistors in their bulb bodies already.

The whole idea of moving the DRL was so that my DDM HID lights arent on all the time. It seems that disabling the drl and just tieing in with either the headlights or lower corners will work best for the upper corners.
With the DRL module being stashed in the dash does anyone have a picture of what it looks like? Or is it stupid proof and is marked. I tagged the thread on how to disable the circuit board but would like to see what I am looking for.
