Has anyone ever noticed any fading if you do this to an older vehicle? I have a 2010 black GMC Yukon and I really want to take the moldings off but I'm afraid it will be noticeable from the degradation of the paint from UV compared to the area behind the molding?

You should be fine with black. Only issue will be depending how many swirl marks n such you have the paint behind the molding will be fresh.

Thanks 08grey for the quick response, I'm hoping to gain the courage over the next few weeks to make this happen.

Thanks,

John

I want to do mine too so I know how you feel. I did it before and I used dental floss to get behind the molding and cut the tape. Then a rubber wheel or some goo gone and elbow grease will finish it up. Tennis elbow can definitely be avoided with the rubber wheel. Some rubbing compound on a clean microfiber will shine it all up after all the tape is off.

I did this to my 08 and I didn't have any problems. I highly suggest the 3m ear wiser wheel though. It will save you a lot of time and headache!

Has anyone taken the side molding off a NNBS z71? I like the clean look, but think it may look strange with the fenders... Pics?
