Hi everybody,
so my car is 21K km (13K miles) , and yesterday i have dropped car in my local dealer in UAE, Dubai, for regular 20k service

Today i have a call from dealer, and the said, i need battery replacement because battery health is 47%
and purpose me to replace it to me with 50/50 of payment (50% - me, 50% - dealer)

Ps. i never saw any problems with battery on my dashboard. its almost new car tahoe 2022, bought in July'22, with only 21k km on odometer
and i also have OnStar Diagnostics Report from February 2024, which said - Vehicle Battery is OK

i have several questions regarding it:
1. Is it ok for batteries to die so quick?
2. Should i pay on this purpose 50/50? or ask to the dealer to pay all 100%
3. How can i trust the dealer on this? can i check battery by myself?

Thank you all in advance

Heat is really bad on battery's, you could have it load tested at any other shop.
I would ask the dealer to show you the battery test performed and the results and inquire a little more about battery warranty period
this should help clarify the situtation and confirm they are not trying to perhaps take advantage of you.

Sound very good.
i was a little mad on them because all information was provided by phone, with not very understanding call-center specialist on other side.

but i love your way of thinking, im going to ask them as you recomended.

Thanks

Is that a Import Truck? I wonder because I would think it would be covered under a bumper to bumper warranty?

he is in Dubai, warranty coverage there may be different than here
us warranty across the board of all manufactures is based on us government requirements for the most part

The battery on my Escalade was replaced with 4,000 miles under warranty. Sometimes they just go. Had a similar situation in an Acadia my wife had a few years ago.

GM specifies that when the batteries get below a 65% state of charge they are in need of replacement. It might still be under the manufacturer's warranty for free replacement. If not, get the new one and drive on.

Been to the dunes with your truck yet?
