Dealer stated 6-8 wait for 23 Suburban LT

New guy here. Just ordered a 2023 Suburban LT on 10/22/22. Completely base, I didn't do any add ons. My sales guy told me it should be ready in 6-8 months. However I noticed on the threads here some people have been posting their orders have been ready in less than 3 months. But there have also been people waiting 6+ months.

Any rhyme or reason my dealer told me 6-8 month? Is this realistic or could it come early?

It is likely due to their history of getting Tahoes suburbans in the last year or so have taken that long. When i irdered mine in may, my dealer said anywhere from 3 months to a year and he said mostly due to chip shortages/ constraints etcetera, but really they had no clue to the way it went. When i picked up my ride 2 weeks ago, he had a person still waiting after 10 months and no eta on arrival on ut at that point.

What I would ask the dealer is how many people are inline ahead of you and how many allocations does he average per week. These dealers are taking orders when they know they will not be available to fill them for a long time, and most are requesting a $500 deposit. He should have have you an order number that you can track thru the Chevy help line, but i would bet it is sitting at Code 1100 and will be there for a long time. If the dealer doesn't get any allocations the truck will never get picked up by GM for production.

as both above have stated, sounds like you are either using a smaller dealer that doesn't get many allocations or a larger dealer and you're 40th in line. Several vehicles have been posted on here that were placed/accepted/built/delivered all in less than a month (we had a Z71 with a turnaround of 27 days). Is that typical? No - but after seeing more than a couple going pretty quickly tells me there are dealers out there sitting on allocations looking for buyers.

I'd test the waters with a couple other dealerships and see what their timelines look like for a LT Suburban

My order has already been placed. Picked this dealer because I got it for msrp. The 4 other dealers around me all wanted 10k over msrp and they wouldn't budge.

just showing the other side of the equation that most dealers aren't explaining to potential buyers....a placed order doesn't really get you far, order has to be accepted by GM to start moving forward...look at the last sentence of Chad G 1979's post...somebody waiting 10 months with no end in sight

As far as the 6-8 month wait time, if you're ok with that timeframe, just let it ride and know that it could also be 4 months or 12 months...i'd say never is also an option if it was a different trim level and diesel, but LTs shouldn't be that hard to come by

I placed an order for an AT4 back in November, vehicle was never built. I had the GM workbench order form with an order number and everything. It wasn't built because it had the rear media on it and GM stopped building SUVs with that option for the 22 model year...so my dealer didn't understand the allocation/constraint process and placed the order the way I wanted to order one - and never told me it wouldn't/couldn't be built...

Understand fully about the pricing, but anyone charging $10k over on an LT Suburban won't be selling many over the next few months - too many dealerships are now at sticker or possibly even less depending on your area. Market adjustments on an Escalade or Denali is still somewhat prevalent, but not so much on the mid to lower trims...

Point being is that "your" place in line at the dealership along with their allocations is what will determine when your order will be built...if they are telling you 6-8 months, I wouldn't expect quicker and be prepared for longer. If you didn't put down a non-refundable deposit and it'd wreck a lifelong relationship with the dealer, I'd expand your radius of contacting dealers about ordering if you want one before next summer

Wait times are all over the place for GM trucks. Try contacting some other dealers and possibly put in more than one order and take whatever comes first.

This is an unfortunate part of the GM's ordering process design compared to Ford's.

Resurrecting my thread because I never updated what happened. In December I ended up finding the exact same 2023 Suburban I had being built in a neighboring state. Only difference is this one came with 20 inch wheels! Ended up getting it 3k below MSRP with a Costco discount and the dealer came down another 1500. I canceled my original order and that suburban ended up being delivered at the end of January to the dealership since they kept it for the allocation I'm guessing. Overall I am extremely happy and love my 2023 Chevy Suburban LT.
