Friggin irritating....just got a call with an update from my service rep after dropping my Tahoe off at the dealership this morning. They did give me a free rental car for the day through Enterprise....which is nice....but it's a lame little Dodge Caliber...at least I didn't have to take the dealership shuttle or arrange for a pickup.

1) Oil change - No biggy....

2) Re-program TPMS to 60psi/35psi Max/Min - He wanted to charge me for one full hour of labor? Really? $108? No way. Settled on 1/2 hour.

3) Check alignment - I had it aligned at this same dealership on 1/29/10 after installing my CCM leveling kit. After having my new tires for less than three months I have noticed some premature wear on the outside shoulders of the front tires. I figured that the camber must be off and I was correct. They fixed it but he wanted to charge me the full price of $79 for an alignment. No way. It should have been done right the first time. No charge.

4) Service transmission, transfer case, differentials - Full synthetics, $340. Wowzers....but I called a couple of other shops and prices were comparable. I suppose I'll just suck it up and pay it... I'm at about 63k miles and with the larger tires it's probably a good idea.

Just need to rant.... It's irritating that they try to slide this crap past people... I guarantee that most people probably don't stick up for themselves and just let the service rep do whatever they want and get charged out the ass for it. Shady bastards.... :scum:

Haha I'm not even suprised! GM dealers are fund of doing Service fraud haha.
My dealer has never trie that on me yet, but I was thinking of doing the whole TPMS number change like you did, but I do not want to pay $54 for it!
Iam going in for my last warranty repairs in early August, lets see how that goes considering I have like 20 things that need to be checked under warranty.

Its simple, If you go there and want a oil change or rather other what ever your visit is, When they try to upsell you a service, Start the conversation is I dont have the money. there no point of them going on if a customer has no money. They wont preform the work if they are not getting paid and definatly no technician is doing anything for free since the technician makes money on flat rate time. There are plenty of How to and diy and save a boat load of money.

Well, as much as I hate the dealership, I have less confidence in the crooked shops around here.

I guess I have a good dealer....doesn't do un-needed, un warranted items
They didn't do anything un-needed or un-warranted, they just wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for the things I requested or the things that they "owed" me.

I wanted the diff/TC service with the synthetics because I want this damn truck to last a million (exaggeration) miles. I didn't realize it was going to be $340....but when calling a couple other shops they were right around $300 for the synthetic diff/TC service. Not a gripe with the dealership on that one...I just hate spending the money. I was mainly irritated with the alignment and TPMS issues....

Yep, sounds about right. I have had several problems with one of the dealers(chevy) in my area. Finally stopped going to him started going to the GMC dealer. You still have to watch them though.

you paid $54 for them to reprogram the TPMS when you can do that yourself via the manual? or did they reinstall them into tires??
