But I agree with sunlit, why not get an OBS 3/4 tonner? You get extra towing capacity, it's very capable compared to the newer trucks (all tuned for the concrete jungle now), and you get that big ol' nasty 7.4!!! :mexsmoke: The 454's are notoriously reliable and long lasting, they'll last forever between rebuilds compared to the 350.

Uh, no. The 454's had the fuel economy of a big block, and the power of a small block. I'd take a LQ4 over a 7.4 any day. And that's a small block vs a big block. It's the technology in the GM Truck ls motors that makes them great. For towing, MPG, and everyday driving. And the newer trucks are tuned for the "concrete jungle"? Yeah, so were the OBS trucks. Hence why IFS was introduced in them.

The GMT800 is one of the best body styles for GM trucks/suv's. I'm way happier with my NBS than either of my OBS trucks.

I should add that while the mY cost a bit more a 2001 burb would be fantastic the drivetrain options improved and so did there reliability. The tranny then were really finally perfected at that point. You get a mild visual upgrade. And still less expensive. I really only want an '05 because if it was 3/4 ton version it has the the most strongest components I have seen built in to a suv. Options includes a gas sucking 8+ liter,4l80e,hydroboost, capacity, every cooler ever installed at the factory as well as earlier upgrades like double din, integrated tailgate, 4w disk brakes, amber turns in the rear, variable 4wd with neutral, tpms and a fantastically designed electric system. But obviously finding a fully option one is a chore and still go around 15k. I would not buy Nothing newer there are just not enough upgrades in the vehicle to justify it. Still want you to keep your 2dr. Never knew one here who did not regret later.

This.
HD Burb:boobs: That is one ride I would love to have. I would be content with the 6ltr/4L80E drivetrain. That jump to the 8ltr is nice but it does not have the aftermarket support as the LS based motors have. Like said, they are hard to come by.

You have all made some good points, and I value that(its why I like this D-board). Truth is, I am a big fan of the NNBS. reliability is good and has some really nice features. Not to mention the ride quality is nice. tuned for the concrete jungle...YES, I understand this statement, and would partially agree...but isn't that what BlackBear Tunes are for, LOL. Tuning options are there as well for intakes, exhaust and other items depending on the $$$ you want to spend. It's all relative.

Sunlit made a hard-hitting comment, that frankly I was hoping to avoid in all of this. It's the regret comment of selling the truck for something else. Arrrghhh, dude you're right! That's the problem I am now faced with. My thinking is reverting back now to keeping the truck and "adding" another vehicle to the line. We have the Hoe, wife has a convertible, and we have a 3rd very late model "family" vehicle for travel and family outings (read excellent MPG).

As I mentioned in the OP, this is several months away for any solid decision so I have time to review review review and weigh some options. One very viable option is to look at a 2005-2007 Tahoe/Yukon with high miles. Purchase, then run it until something dies. Then potentially rebuild the motor, tranny, front/rear ends and run with that for a while. This gives me two body style options, Chevy/GMC badge options and good reliability over those years. This also gets new some of the newer items I spoke earlier of, but at a much lower cost. I enjoy turning wrenches, and don't mind, actually prefer doing my own maintenance. I should also within a years time finally have built a decent garage at my new house and have a place to store at least one of the trucks, as well as a place to perform all of the work.

UPDATE:

So sitting on the beach friday I was talking with the little lady about my thoughts on this...long story short, I got the green light to ADD to the vehicle family! Woo Whoo!

Mainly gonna focus on 2005-2006 Tahoe/Yukons. Again this will be a few months down the road but I should be able to find a good deal that matches up with what we want/need.

2 Doors 4 sale

Can't be a lot of help but here's another question. Is there a place where we can list our vehicles for sale like other Forums? I have 2/2 doors. A 1993 and 1999. I'm sure there would be some interest in these Arizona vehicles but are Craigslist/Ebay our only outlets? No disrepect intended.
