Hi all, been lurking for a bit and find i can't find much info on a question i have. 2015 Yukon Denali 6.2 alternator from what i can find has the decoupler pulley. doesn't look like the standard pulley at least. looking at replacement options and can't seem to find much. any factory 220 amp models seem to have the basic pulley and aftermarket ones such as the Mechman models have basic pulley. most info says not to put a standard pulley in place of the decoupler model.

Thoughts and suggestions on this? maybe i'm way overthinking this?

I installed the 84143541 220a alternator from a 6.6L and it works fine. I appears to have the decoupling pulley on it:1000003655.jpg
Remember to upgrade your charge wire and change the Megafuse out to a 250a.

thanks for the info. i thought i read somewhere the diesel units wouldn't work. wasn't sure why though. that one is $100 cheaper than the 2015 6.6L option. no idea what difference that one is. i ordered one of them from Rockauto as well as a new belt and tensioner.

yes, i'm upgrading starter, alternator, and grounds with 1/0 tinned marine grade wire i got from BatteryCablesUSA. they are local to me. their wire looks like the knuconceptz wire as far as size goes. Mine has the distribution plate so i had to get a separate fuse holder for the bigger fuse. after having to repalce the abttery and starter, i figure the wires and alternator probably aren't to far behind.

How are you mounting the fuse holder? I ended up 3D printing something to strap it to one of the braces:

current plan is to route the alternator wire along the factory path and tie it to the down brace from where you have yours mounted. i had a fuse holder left from a stereo install on my last truck and the cable from the fuse to the battery shouldn't be more than 5-6 inches. planning to tie it, new starter cable, and new ground wire to that brace for support with cable ties so it minimizes the strain on the wires themselves. i do like that fuse holder you made. looks like it belongs there!
