Just purchased a used 2007 Yukon SLT. I'm looking to add a Denali grill on it but i dont want a chrome GMC emblem. What is the best way to have my stock GMC logo painted to match the color of the truck?

I think the emblem can be removed from the back of the grille like the bowties. Pull it off, buff it up with some sand paper and paint it yourself. You can now find paint code matching spray paint at most good auto parts stores. That is the way I painted mine and it has worked very well, not to mention a pretty cheap option.

Ok I know a shop here in town that has color matched paint in a can. Just half to tape of the chrome trim real well. So does my stock GMC logo snap back onto the Denali grill?

Napa may carry it. I can't remember where I got mine. It would be next to the touch up paint.

Frank, if you tape the whole badge and then run a razor blade around the chrome edges you should be good.
Im not sure how the Yukon badges are held on, but for my Tahoe there was a bolt behind the grille and then there was double sided tape as well.

I have only worked on a few of these and they were both Chevys and I think it would be easier and less time consuming to pull the grill vs taping around the edges/curves of the GMC emblem. Also don't have to worry about any over spray! :imo:

Oh yea, I'd be pulling the whole grill off then popping out the GMC emblem by itself to paint. I just dont know how the stock Denali grill is as far as putting the 'GMC' back on. On my '04 I had a streetscene grill and had to fit the tabs through the holes of the grill to pop the 'GMC' back on.

The badge will fit the Denali grille, I did break one of the tabs off on the back of the badge but is an easy repair wil some 3M tape. I added the top and lower to my Yukon last week, looks great!

I was able to get it done. Have both upper and lower denali grill pieces installed with the color matched GMC emblem. I too broke one tab behind the 'gmc' but yea stuck a little 3m behind there. Looks great. I'll get some pics up as soon as i get home. Im on a short mission here in Haiti now.
