DENALI OR ESCALADE??

Decided in escalade. Will be doing the new whipple 2.9 on it also.

So you would buy a escalade because you care what people think? Just because it has a escalade badge and you want people to me impressed? Wow am I the only one who would buy a vehicle because I like it and not someone else. OP go drive both vehicles and look at them side by side... Pick which one YOU LIKE

+1 the escalade is loud and garish to me. Beyond that if you have to finance a large portion of these vehicles (don't talk to me about cost of money/investments etc etc these are essentially luxury toys) then the decision should be made already.

i dont think you understood my point of view.

i said i would choose the escalade for 11k difference if it was for my personal use.
my personal opinion is that the escalade has way more presence and higher brand quality and to me it justifies the price difference. you might think otherwise and you are entitled to your opinion.some like stuff more flashy


i am in livery biz and for me buying a more expensive vehicle was not going to generate more profit so i got the suburban LT with not many options.
and dealing with a lot of clients i can tell most do not know the differences between models or the options etc etc.
they know escalade and the rest is suburban. the gmc line in between is really not much different in their eyes.
this is for livery clients point of view.

OP asked for opinions and we all gave opinions. like i said i'd go for escalade because thats what i would do in a similar situation for myself. For clients i got a suburban.

I had an 08 Escalade with 122k miles on it and was wanting a new Esky bad. But after comparing it to the 2016 Denali I went with that. The Cadillac was a little too over the top bling bling for me. The Cue was not so user friendly, especially after driving my wife's Lincoln MKX and hassle in with radio and A/C controls. I got it under invoice with 0% financing thru GM and a decent trade on my 2008. The money I saved will go towards some nice wheels. The Escalade is s great vehicle, just not for me.

Actually no running boards at all is the cleanest.

Also do you have kids? Salesman said they can be dangerous for kids playing in or around cars. Haven't heard of any actual injuries but I suppose anything is possible.

Another reason I ask is that kids was a deciding factor in making mine a 4x4. The handful of times I would need it to drive safely in a thunderstorm or head up a or snowy mountain justified the price.

No 4x4 I won't be driving the truck in rain or snow. I have other cars for that

for 11k more its no brainer. i'd definitely go with the escalade.
the brand image and the design is so much more classy than whatever else you'd be getting

you'd be a paying $200 more a month maybe but than again you wont look back in time and wonder "should i have gotten the escalade"

my previous vehicle was a 2008 short version escalade.and new one i got is a 2016 suburban LT.
negotiated price was $54k. i wanted to be as far as possible from an escalade in price (in this case about 20k ish from my ideal setup). by doing so i now dont regret not getting an escalade because i'd have to pay a hefty difference.

im in livery business and believe me , in the food chain of GM SUV line up if an suv is not an escalade it just simply is not. a suburban does the job equally well in my case and it being an ltz model or a gmc denali wont matter to the client. but if it is an escalade they know and totally loving it , are they willing to pay more for it ? NO. hence the Basic suburban LT with basic features. You cant just fully load a suburban ltz and make it a $73k vehicle and try to tell ppl that. it is still a suburban in their eyes, they hardly know the difference. Same goes for the Denali, clients wont be impressed because its a denali.

and for ppl who say an escalade is just a suburban rebranded. its way more than that.i mean if i agree to pay $54k for an LT suburban with not may features , the escalade with its brand image, impressive design and options list is well worth the money they are asking for it. In my case i just did not need any of the options the Escalade had to offer because i wasn't buying it for personal use.

Had i been in OPs situation, i would definitely go with the escalade and not look back.Its just so much more impressive than whatever else is out there. Basically for the suv world it is the "King of Kings" , period.

I think there are a couple ways to look at this though. I for one love the amenities and performance of the Denali but do not want the attention bling of the Escalade.
Now certainly a lot depends on where you live and who you run with. But we do day trips to ballgames in Baltimore, four wheeling trips in WV, tow the boat down to the river to do some tubing with the kids.
I am also an owner of a mom and pop store locally owned for 67 years.
Do I want any added flash in any of those instances? NO. I like how the Denali is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Everyone knows of the Suburban and everyone knows what an Escalade is.
A Denali is more than one without being too much of the other.

I went back and forth between the denali and escalade. I ultimately went with a 2016 escalade platinum because I prefer the presence of the front end of the escalade and the platinum interior made the Denali look rather plain.

I would still prefer to have actual knobs to control everything, rather than the CUE system. That is my biggest complaint. However, I have gotten used to it now.
