Hi guys,

I got my wife a 2018 Yukon Denali, and it came with the polished 22in rims. They look good, but I'm hesitant to run the in the winter because of the tires. Have any of you dropped your wheel sizes for the winter (or whatever reason)? I was thinking of stepping down to 20s, or even 18s and getting some BF Goodrich tires. Will that cause any issues with the suspension, or anything that may necessitate the 22s?

I ask because I have an AWD Charger with 19s, and I can't step down because of the AWD system.

Thanks!
Jim

I don't see how there could be a problem as long as the overall diameter of the tires are the same front and rear. I think the smallest diameter wheel you can run as 17" because anything smaller won't clear the brake caliper.

I step down to a 17" in the winter with a Blizzack snow tire from my summer tires. Be careful going to a "BFG all-terrain" just for winter thinking it will be much better. The rubber compound is not necessarily designed for winter driving (aka: stopping on ice) There are numerous winter tires designed specifically for what you mentioned above and will provide a much safer driving experience in inclement weather. Even without snow, a true "winter tire" will be better in temperatures below 45 degrees, whether it is dry, rain, or especially snow. I hope that helps, and best of luck.
