Denali Personal Settings

I haven't found an answer to the following question from a credible source so I have decided to turn to the forum experts that actually have experience. I've owned GM products for more than 25 years. All of my Pontiac Bonneville SSeis and Envoy Denalis had personal settings for the seats, mirrors, radio, etc. When you used the key fob to unlock the vehicle the seats, mirrors, etc automatically moved to those personal settings. The 2016 Yukon Denali I purchased several months ago has the same type of personal settings and remote key fobs that I remember my Bonnevilles/Envoys had. The difference is to move the seats, mirrors, etc to the personal settings you have to manually push a button on the door. If you start the Denali with the key fob present the seats, mirrors, etc automatically move to the preset position but not when you unlock the vehicle. Imagine having a wife significantly shorter than you are and not being able to get into the Denali to start it without manually pushing the button on the driver side door. Is this the way this system works or am I missing something?

You may have to check the owners manual but I thought you still set driver 1 and driver 2 with the two different fobs. Set the position on the seat and push either 1 or 2 on the door and hold till it beeps then do the same for the other fob. I would only have one fob in the vehicle during each setup.

That is the way you set the personal settings. My question is do the seats, mirrors, etc. move to the preset personal positions when the vehicle is unlocked with a key FOB or do you have to manually press the corresponding numbered button on the door after unlocking the vehicle with a key FOB to activate the personal settings?

When you unlock the doors with the remote, everything should move to the corresponding settings once you open the door.
You should not need to press the buttons on the door. The only time I need to do that is when I leave the keys in the truck and start it.

I've been trying to figure this out as well on my new '17. All our previous cars moved into position as soon as you hit the unlock button. My wife is very short compared to me and its nice to have the seat move into position. Best we can do is press that stupid button on the door when I decide to drive her Yukon. I've played around with settings and can't figure it out either with regards to recall seating etc. All it seems to do is move us into position once I'm already in the seat and go to turn the truck on. By this point..I can't normally even get in the seat due to my wife sitting so close.

Thing One and Thing Two. Two different fobs should result in two different settings when set up that way. I mean it's been that way forever so I don't think they changed for the '15-up.

As I'm the only driver, I don't use that feature, but I vaguely remember reading in my Denali's owners manual that you can enable/disable that feature using the computer control on the dash.

We've had our 2017 Denali for about 3 months. The auto recall isn't "triggered" when you unlock the doors like it is in many other cars. It's triggered when you put the ignition in RUN or ACCESSORY. The seats and stuff will move to the memory 1 or memory 2 position depending on which keyfob you have in your pocket. It's on page 67 of the owner's manual version we have, but isn't explained very well.

One thing we learned is that keyfob 1 and keyfob 2 are the ones that come from the factory. We had a third keyfob made, but it isn't assigned to a memory slot. It won't cause the seats to move when you use it, but it will do everything else the factory keyfob does.

We have a winner. Bill L you are 100% correct. I was at my dealer yesterday and decided to get to the bottom of this mystery. While in the past (prior to 2015) unlocking the vehicle with a key FOB may have triggered the personal settings, it doesn't in the 2015 and up models. The personal settings aren't activated when unlocking with a key FOB even though they are already linked???? Does that make any sense to anybody??? No real good explanation from GM but that's the info in the GM computer. Shadow17: If you have a 2015 Yukon and unlocking the vehicle with the key FOB triggers the personal settings there are a lot of 2015 and up owners that would like to know. Check it out and let the rest of us know. Until then I'll push the #1 button if my wife was the last to drive the vehicle. Her 5' 3" personal settings don't accommodate this 6' frame.
