I am currently deployed and my wife is having serious trouble with her 2003 Yukon 2500XL 6.0L. We have four kids and she has not been able to get the Yukon to start for over a week.
Here's the background. Our community was about to be evacuated for a wildfire so my wife packed a few emergency things into the truck, including a full 5 gallon water container. She hadn't taken it out yet and last week a family of baby quail ran into the road right in front of her, causing her to react and lock up the brakes. The water jug slammed into the back of the passenger seat and burst, letting all 5 gallons out into the passenger floorboard. She didn't feel any urgency in getting things dried out and when she went to drive it the next morning it wouldn't start. She put the battery on the charger overnight and it still won't start. A friend came over to look at it and as soon as he put the key in the ignition, the alarm started going off. He recommended taking it to an auto electric place and said the water may have caused a short and fried the computer.
What is in the passenger floorboards (besides 5 gallons of water) that may be causing the trouble? What circuitry is under the carpet there? She is currently driving my beat up old 97 F250 hunting truck but I would really like to get her back in the family rig so she is comfortable again. Besides, my Ford doesn't get driven much so I often neglect the maintenance on it and it has been having transmission trouble lately. I would like to know if there might be an easy fix for the problem because I really don't have the cash to fork over for extensive professional troubleshooting and repair. I also don't trust mechanics who may take advantage of our current situation. If I was home, I would have had this fixed already.
