Wideband is a great tuning tool, if you know how to apply it. Most stock vehicles, or even mildly modified vehicles, would see no benefit.

I finally got a chance to play around with the software today. It's very intuitive and the help guide embedded into the software is pretty thorough. The forums also have a ton of information. I'm still taking baby steps, but I've pulled the stock file from mine, grabbed a couple different tunes from the repository, and changed a few things in the transmission. It's probably going to take me awhile to get to the point where I know what I'm doing, but so far I'm happy with the decision.

Thanks for the update. Keep us updated on the results. Sounds like a great way to learn though.

We reduced the TM, increased shift pressure, and reduced shift times. It feels great at WOT, but the shifts are a little too hard for daily driving I think. It also went 0-60 half a second slower, according to my Torque app anyways.

I have seriously considered getting the Hp software for a while now.

The only thing that holds me back is having to figure it out all on my own

I had the exact same reservations, but after just diving in, I'm glad I went with it.

One thing I am also considering is an email tune from a company in Tampa. For $150, they do the tune based on your file as long as you have the software. Might be worth it to give me a nice tune while I'm learning the software. If I decide to go that route I'll be sure to post up my thoughts.

There's lots of good info on the older 4l60 Trans as far as that end goes but I haven't saw much on the 6 speeds. I'm pretty confident in the older stuff but the newer junk scares me. I think it's well worth the money, I just can't get into it enough to read for hours on end. Glad you are diving in head first. Hopefully you can mail it down and I can ask you for tips lol.
@goodinblack would like that too

I'm feeling better about the transmission the more I read. I haven't started with the engine settings yet. A buddy is going to pick up the Greg Banish DVD. It seems highly recommended, so we'll see.

I basically just play with the timing and get the fuel/air maps in line after doing a CAI or headers. IMO, you get so much more out of the truck with the Trans. Again, I'm far from a pro, that's just as far as I have ventured into it. We picked my buddies SSS up almost a full second in the 1/8 mile after tune, headers, and CAI. The "seat of the pants" feel was much better after just pulling TM and adjusting shift pressure, shift point, and reducing shift time. We did all the changes after 50% throttle so it feels stock under normal driving but snaps at WOT.
