HP Tuners and EFI LIVE

Black Bear is EFI live.

You could also get a local shop to tune on a actual Dyno.

Here in NC we have PCM of NC that uses HP Tuners.

As far as Diablo goes.....

Lets say that ALL of the negative reviews on Amazon are a 100% user error...... so that only leaves one no problem still. No support.

So even though those people may be dumbasses.... Diablo is still providing the wrong or no support.

With Black Bear if they don't provide the right support you can come on here and complain like others have done in the past. One way or another you WILL get support..... because of the pressure that a forum community provides on a vendor.

I have no benefit either way, and like I said I was considering Diablo.

There is a guy that's pretty popular and well respected local to me. He uses HP Tuners and supposedly is great with GM LS tunes. The only issue I would have is not being able to get it tuned in the future without paying full price for a new tune. Both BB and Diablew offer free or reduced prices for tune updates.

I've read that although Diablo is lacking with customer service, that isn't the case with a Diablew custom tune. Everyone seems happy with his customer service, and a few reviews even mentioned that his was better than BB.

I'm trying to find some information on the actual tunes, but most are obviously more likely to lean towards whichever tune they decided on. Maybe I'll just flip a coin. :)

If you do decide to go with Diablew please share your experience. I was also torn between the two but decided on BB. I liked the fact BB could tweak the AFM parameters to make it operate longer/better instead of just turning AFM on or off. The tweaked AFM system is much better than before but I think I actually like it off more.

I have the Diablo Trinity on my Denali and I have a tune by one of the local tuners. I like it.

I had the Diablo for my charger... NEVER had any issues with it... The problem usually is people changing setting they have no business touching...

As for the Diablo tune- you need to find a reputable shop to create you one... Most people who use it, pass the custom tune they had created around more than a ****** in DC.... THAT IS THE BIGGEST problem I saw.....

Downloading a tune from the net and adjusting it yourself, only leads to issues...

Again, I loved my Diablo so I can't bash it one bit...

That being said, I've already paid my deposit to get an in person BB Tune coming up here in VA.. I chose the BB route because of the research and reviews they have. I haven't seen anything negative about Diablo and the Yukon... However, I haven't seen many raving about to also. So why not go with a current trusted source opposed to the unknown???

But as it's been stated here, it's your money...

I'll leave you with this though... You're going to pay $400 for the Diablo... If you want a REPUTABLE tuner create you a tune, get yourself another $350-$400 ready for the tune.. So you do the math... A true Diablo tune is going to far exceed a BB Tune.... But again- your money.. Make yourself happy...

Thanks for the information and the review.

I was looking at Diablew for getting a custom Diablo tune. He is charging $495 for the tuner and tune, about $100 cheaper than the BB tune and Silverado/Sierra guys seem to be high on his tunes.

Right now I'm looking at three options:

BB Email Tune - $599
Free lifetime tune updates for the vehicle

Diablew Custom Email Tune - $495
Free updates for one year, then $75 for an update after that

Local tuner using HP Tuners - $400
Reduced rate for updates, but I'm not sure what that is yet

I don't know the tuner you're referencing but...... The Diablo intune will run you $370 on a good day... The Diablo trinity will run you $600 on a good day...

That means you're probably getting the intune and your "tune" is costing you $100... Think about it a minute.... $100 for a CUSTOM tune.... 95% of my shoes cost more than $100... Do you really think you're going to get a true custom tune for $100???

If you truly are, you Sir, have found the unicorn the world has been searching for and I congratulate you...

My thought is, you've found a shop who will take a custom tune they have on file, look at your emailed data and adjust the timing on their "saved" tune to prevent detonation.... Then email it to you..

Will it work?? hell yeah. Just about any tune is probably better than the factory tune... Is it custom for your driving style, mods, type of fuel, etc? I doubt it... But hey, like I said, maybe you found the unicorn......

And again- I loved the Diablo. But I also had a $300+ tune on it that took numerous versions to get what I wanted... Maybe I was/am super **** about how it drove... However, it was a Hemi and I wanted it to act like one.....

This review is from: DiabloSport I1000 inTune Vehicle Programmer (Automotive)
Today I bought the DiabloSport Intune i1000. My wife and I were heading back home after the holiday. We stopped so I could put in some race fuel and I tried modifying some of the parameters with the tuner. I was just planning to show the wife some burn outs and 0 to 60 times on an old road. She went in to the gas station for a minute and by the time she came out I had completely bricked my computer system on my 2012 Camaro. I tried fixing it for about an hour. Tried updating it. Finally called tech support, talked to them for about an hour, they couldn't help me much other than to send me a new update file. Once I installed it, it erased my original stock backup. So now I could not even use the option to force original backup because the original backup was erased.
Had to call roadside assistance and get towed to a dealer who will have to fix the problem tomorrow.
I'm in the military and really can't afford not being back to work when I'm supposed to be. Hopefully I'm not punished when I get back.
This is just a huge disappointment. I don't think an item like this should be sold unless it is fail-safe. I was in my car for hours today. I paid $460 for this at a performance shop.
The tech guy over the phone said they want me to send the Intune to them so they can make sure it works properly. They said something about overnighting it for free but now I'm nervous to hook it back up to my car. I'm disabled (double above knee amputations) and this is the only car I have equipped with hand controls so I can drive.

I'll update this as it gets worse.

So far I think DiabloSport needs to do a few things.

1. Only sell devIces that are fail-safe.
2. Instruct their technicians to be better with their products or have certain techs dedicated to specific products. (Half the time I was on the phone with tech support, they were instructing me to install the update wrong, once I got off the phone with them I installed it correctly.)
3. Have the computer software backup any saved tunes or the original stock tune to the computer. (tech dude saw that I had tunes saved on the device but did not instruct me to save them to my computer) I installed the update like he was trying to do, I had no idea old tunes would be deleted from my device during the update.
4. Maybe give tech support an "oh-crap update" so that they can better assist stranded folks like me. Crap hit the fan today and if tech support could have given me an update for my device that overrided the vin lock, maybe I wouldn't be stranded right now.

My brother has a bully dog tuner for his mustang and nothing like this has ever happened to him. His tuner was less expensive as well.

This was so simple to do. I plugged it into my computer and it downloaded all the necessary updates. This took about 45 minutes to an hour. Then I went out, plugged it into my OBDII port and used the Diablo Tune. My H2 runs buttery smooth with better fuel economy and what feels like more torque and power! Worth the money, hands down!(This was my original review)

I wanted to change my review based on the following:

1. I went to reprogram my PCM to the 87 Octane program. In the middle of the program it stated that an error had occurred. It then stated that it was going to revert back to the original PCM programming.

2. This went on for about 1/2 hour. I couldn't start my truck or anything!

3. Hooked it up to my computer to update it. Only to have a white screen for about 3 hours. Unhooked it several times and it still wouldn't update.

4. Went back out to my truck, hooked it up and after 10 tries, it finally reverted back to original programming in my truck.

5. Came inside and hit return for defective unit on Amazon.

This was the worst experience I could ever have tuning a truck. I never had this problem in the past with my Hypertech for my Ford F-250. Don't waste your money.
