Did they put Dino oil in my Denali?

Would the engine oil sensor be able to tell difference between dinosaur oil and the synthetic I usually run? Just curious bc the change oil soon lamp is lit and I barely have 3000 miles since the last oil change. Normally, I go 5000-7000 miles between oil changes and the light never comes on? Could be the light wasn't reset....

Thx Nathan! How sofisticated is the sensor? Is it able to determine the condition of the oil or is it based on miles?

From my thoughts it uses algorithms to calculate oil condition. I think cold starts, short trips, and full throttle accels made my % drop at a faster rate on my previous trucks. Longer highway trips and warmer weather would cause % to stay higher. I don't use the % indicator as concrete knowledge, just for reference. 5k mile oil changes with synthetic is a lot cheaper insurance for me!

Thx guys. I had my oil changed today as a precaution, figured it was cheap insurance. There have been more shorter trips since the last oil change so that prolly did have something to do with the shorter interval warning light. We'll see how long this oil lasts...
