School me....us. Or list what you know sets the "2500" apart from the 1500.

Wikipedia refers to it as a 3/4 ton, but in some cases, accessories for the Sierra 2500 aren't applicable, yet they are from the Sierra 1500HD....

1. 8-lug wheels, obviously.
2. Only came with 6.0/8.1 engines?

What else? Or correct what I have so far if you know differently.

They aren't a true "HD" truck (don't have the taller section frame like the 2500HD and 3500), that is why they don't share components with the 2500HD, but instead the 1500HD.

-Rear suspension is leaf spring instead of coil
-Bigger brakes
-They also have bigger floating rear axles

Depending on engine and gear ratio they are rated to tow up to 12,000 lbs (8.1 and 4.10s being the highest).

Suspension, brakes, axles, motors, trans, and potentially the frame. I don't know if it's like the trucks where there is the same frame for 1500 and 1500hd and then the 2500 and 2500hd Share a different frame.

yeah i realize theres a few difference because with a truck you have a much higher towing capacity becuase you have the ability to mount a reciever hitch directly above the rear axle in the bed and on the suburban your limited to how much weight a class 3 hitch handle
also the 2500HD truck axle is the same as the 2500HD suburban axle
both in 3.73 and in 4.10 and it mite have different calipers im not reall sure but the rotors are also the same size

now whats the difference in the tahoe frame and suburban frame i know the burban has a longer wheelase cuz i just sold a tahoe and bought a burb and the suburban has 4 full doors
and the tahoe the rear wheel well cutts into the rear doors

So a 3/4 front end everything will swap right in a 1/2 ton frame but the rear will need leaf spring hangers installed on the Fran OR the 3/4 axle will need the control arm and spring mounts and a heavier spring to convert to 3/4 ton? Engine and tranny are bolt in? I heard at one time the 3/4 has a factory body lift. Can someone confirm this?
