A new distribution update for Tahoes was posted today..

Updates for Tahoe Retail and Fleet

Week of 1/10/2022

Effective 1/10/2022, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:

  • Interior section-(UD5) Front and Rear Park Assist, added new footnote 1 to all equipment groups, which reads "Vehicles built prior to January 24, 2022, include Front and Rear Park Assist. Certain vehicles built on or after January 24, 2022, will be forced to include (00Z) Not Equipped with Front and Rear Park Assist, which removes Front and Rear Park Assist. See dealer for details or the window label for the features on a specific vehicle.".
  • Interior section-Added (00Z) Not Equipped with Front and Rear Park Assist, see dealer for details. It is Reference Only "A" on all equipment groups with footnote 1, which reads "Vehicles built prior to January 24, 2022, include Front and Rear Park Assist. Certain vehicles built on or after January 24, 2022, will be forced to include (00Z) Not Equipped with Front and Rear Park Assist, which removes Front and Rear Park Assist. See the window label for the features on a specific vehicle.".

Does anyone understand how the relationship work between distribution updates and constraint updates? Is this an indicator on what may be changed this Thursday in the constraint updates? Or are they completely unrelated?

It think this is different from a constraint. Basically if your car would have had this feature and it’s produced during the time period where they limit this feature then it will not be on the vehicle. They would credit the the msrp for that. It’s kind of like the heated steering wheel cars made after 12/6 that had a package included that were still built but they are missing the heated steering wheel. They are still being finished and delivered to the customer. It’s also not preventing orders from being accepted like it would if you had something that was on constraint with your order. Orders with a constraint just aren’t being built.

Man it sure sounds like things are heading in the wrong direction. I was hoping to see constraints and “not equipped” start going away. Maybe this isn’t the time to buy…

I wouldn’t mind it not being in the front. The rear is a different story. But I suppose the cameras will make up the difference

I know I'm risking my inbox blowing up, but there is a difference.

The ordering process is frustrating now but many of the items that will not come equipped on your ordered vehicles will be retrofitted for free when parts are available. There are forms customers sign for these features at delivery in regards to this.

Items like heated rear seats and stop/start will not be installed later on though.

I talked to my dealer and he said they have no clue if it will be cut BUT they will retroactively add it for free.
