I did my rear coils myself (actually it was an EPIC FAIL!!!)

As long as you aren't an idiot like I was, you will be 100% fine though because its really an easy project with the proper equipment

can some with a stock yuk xl or suburban measure the height of the rear fender to the ground. Just hold a tape measure from the ground, through center line of wheel as best you can to top of rear fender arch. I am measuring 35 3/4 inches. It looks a bit low to me still. My airride is broken, so new springs plus a bit of working air in the shocks probably raises it up a bit. I put a jack under the hitch and jack the truck up about 1 inch and that looks right. Not really a rake, but a slight one, with passengers it probably levels out, ok with a trailer and all that.
Mine is stock 00 Yuk Xl, stock height, stock rims, just looking for a measurement from a few others. Don't want to run around the grocery store parking lot measuring people cars, might get some weird looks.

thanks all

lol... i would laugh if i saw you run around w/ measure tape. But dont want you to get hurt.

But as you know i dont have a xl. but 35 does sound low to me, b/c my tahoe lowered w/ beltech springs w/ stock shocks sat right at 34".

Just found some notes i made before i lowered mine, and my rear sat at 36 1/2 and front was 35 1/2. That was all stock, nothing done. Im sure the XL is right around that maybe?

Maybe this helps you out.. Im sure someone can chime in.

cool, thanks. yea, hydraulic jack under the hitch, just jack it up about 1" and it looks like other trucks I see around town. Maybe some 1" spacers from summit then.

Well, kind of finished up this rear end project with new monroe sensatrac shocks, replacing the airride shocks. Air rides are 11 yrs old, 130K miles on them, and the pump doesn't work. Pulled the RTD fuse and put these in. Had the air tools to do it, just not a 21mm wrench, had to score that for 10 minutes of use.

getting there.. you going to get some spacers for the rear? Once you ride on those sensatracs, let me know how the ride is. I almost got those.

yea, no spacers just yet. still need those. after a day and a 1/2 or so, I notice the sensatracs get the truck balanced again quickly. Basically i was riding around on no shocks with how mine were. A few driveways around town up 1 wheel at a time or quickly down and out a driveway, really gets it rockin right to left. Or drive real slow, and turn the wheel quickly right-left-right u can really get it rockin. The new shocks cause it to recover quickly, you will still get the dip into which side went off a curb or whatever but it rights itself. No more rockin each direction for a bit. They fit my budget, better than what I had, lifetime warranty, - and are made in the USA. all good so far. will report back maybe with some weeks of driving on them.

DONE. springs came today, slapped them in tonight. Did a somewhat long write-up and posted here. Hope this helps others.
http://www.randomrides.net/yukon/coilsprings.html

Its an old post and the link doesn't work anymore. Anyone stil have some tips on how to do this?

I took a peek under the truck, looks like I can jack up the body/frame and the axle will remain in place allowing the spring to come out, is this correct?
