Its not hard. Everything is a plug n play. I installed everyting on mine within a half hour. No splicing. The only thing i am uncertian is if the LS has wiring in the door for everthing.

CrankCase sent us the VIN for the vehicle he's removing the mirrors from. He also sent pics and they are in excellent condition (like his entire build). My wife (NanaNita) talked to the dealer who she also gave the VIN from her Tahoe to confirm matching parts. He said that it won't work because the harnesses don't match and we would have exchange the entire harnesses on both doors then have them reprogrammed to make it work.

The question is are the harnesses in question part of the switches and those mate up directly to the mirror wiring or do the switches connect to a harness in the door and the mirrors connect to separate harness? If we bought and installed the mirrors and master switch from Cranks vehicle and the passenger side switch from you sumo does that take care of the harness issue or is there more to it than that?

If you guys don't know, how can we confirm with confidence before "taking the plunge"?

Thanks!

When I did my tow mirrors, the wiring form my original mirrors plugged into my door switches (corresponding doors of course), On the back of the door switch there are multiple plug ins, some used and some not used. For example, when I removed my DL3 mirrors i removed the plug in on the door switch, when the new tow mirrors went on they plugged into a DIFFERENT plug on the door switch. And there are still other plugs not being used, and all have a color label on them for the plug in harness color.

I think by getting the proper switches, that resolves the issue of the mirror harness, since the door switch harnesses should be same across vehicle platforms. Makes very little sense to have different door/switch harnesses for EVERY different combination out there, esp with everything needed to go through the BCM anyway.

I would call/try another dealer. Where are you located at?

I suspect you are right and that's what I was thinking, that the door wiring would be standard and only the options that connect to it would vary. We are NE of Houston, TX. She's been talking to the service mgr at Robbins Chevrolet in Humble, TX (they have an excellent reputation). Not sure if she actually mentioned the new switches we would be acquiring along with the windows and we would only need the programming taken care of. She's going to call him back to confirm that part of the equation.

That's the only thing in question for me is the wiring harness for ls. The lt and up have the harness and its plugg and play. I thought I read somewhere someone was doing a dl3 and can't remember who or what was needed to get it to work.

Your better off google. Dealers usually don't know about this kind of stuff and are clueless when you tell them what your are trying to do. They wil tell you to bring it and them tell you that they will have to program only to tell you that it can't be done and still charge you the programming fees. You get nothing and they still make money off you.

Found out she was talking to parts dept. at the dealer. They are saying her 2010 Tahoe LS has a DL8 code and Crank's 2011 Tahoe has DL3 code. They are saying they have different harnesses inside the door and just changing the switches won't work because they won't mate up correctly to the 2010 harness. But for the low charge of $228/each (plus labor) we can buy 2011 harnesses and have them changed out.

Big can of worms.

Just for some reference, Here is a picture of the back side of my door switch:

This one you can see the marked connectors better

In the above picture, the plug in on the far right is the main harness plug in, the others are used as needed. Pop out your door switch, easy to do, just get a small flat screw driver or trim tool under the trim and pull up, doesnt take much, and see what connections you have. Also on the main harness (and out going if possible) list the color of all the wires. I am curious to see if they are the same colors and the same amount, and the same locations. Take pics. I will get mine apart this afternoon and do the same.

And for refernance, this is the mirror switch for my tow mirrors (without power fold button). My original switch is still in my truck (the one with the power fold button) and they are identical on the back sides.
