Do I care about ZW7 without Z55?

Every front strut I look at says "exc. zw7 or z55"

I have dumb-shocks/struts front and rear, no autoride magnaride air-ride...

Can I just order whatever for the front? I don't even see a specific strut from the GM websites, they also say exc. zw7/z55. Is the spring different ? B/c I'll be using my strut compressor to fit these rather than buying the ready-made ones.

I believe that since you don’t have electronic controls you can use anything that fits your rig. The verbiage they’re using is as you assumed. It won’t work with Z95 or Z55, an easy way to tell is they don’t have connectors on top of the strut. Did it have it and was removed? No need for new springs unless yours are damaged. I did mine the same way. Carry on Sir.

exc is short for except "except ZW7 or Z55" options
It means that part won't fit a vehicle with those options.

Is that the issue you are wondering about???

Your RPO code sticker in your glove box should tell you what are the correct shocks. What is the Z** code on your sticker? Once you have identified that, look for the secondary RPO codes 6** and 7** . Match those secondary codes to the shocks offered by your vendor. GMPartsDirect.com allows you to enter your VIN, which gets you closer to identifying the correct shocks for your truck, at prices significantly below dealer prices.
