I started my 03 Tahoe yesterday after a couple days of sitting and a huge cloud of white or maybe blue smoke came from the exhaust. Smelled terrible too. I'm trying to figure out if it's the PCV valve, the valve guide seals or something else. The most common reason for this smoking seems to be the PCV but I have read that 2003 on up went to a fixed valve. Is this true?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so. I do know that there is an upgraded pcv valve that is different than some of the older ones.

Yes a 03 should have a fixed pcv valve. But it will take you 1 min to check. Pull the hose and look at the bottom of the valve if it has a flat bottom and a pin hole it a fixed if it has a hole the size of an eraser and rattles it has a ball and spring. I have a 02 and just replaced mine with a fixed. All I did was ask for a 03 -06 pcv valve.
