What did you folks use who've installed aftermarket speakers. I have an 06 Yukon with Bose.

I think I meant to install in the factory location. It seems the faactory ones clip in and if you replaced them they would leave the gaps above and below the speaker. maybe just use some dynomat to cover the area then mount?

Seems that these door pods would decouple the driver from the actual door airspace though?

Seems it would mess with the mid bass if the driver was not mated to the actual door panel, preferably sealed up with dynamat or similar product.

i prefer to make 1/2" wood spacer rings myself.. it is a much more solid mount. plus it allows a 6.5 speaker. the metra adaptors will only allow a 6"..

You can fiberglass your factory speaker grills and then cut a single hole or run double 6.5" in each door. And you can paint them to match your interior or wrap them in suede leather. It's my next project.
