I wouldnt be selling him just the amp. The he would get the box and subs. so 200 would be good, thats all im looking at getting.

My budget, 300 tops for the subs I was looking at the Rockford Fosgate Punch stage 2. crutchfield has em for $140 a piece for 10". And $100 a piece for the Alpine Type R. What would be a good size amp to match with those 2? I would get a box custom built

id look at running one really good 12 and get a better amp maybe? you could pick up one of the entry level 12s from Fi for around 200 and then get a decent actual 800-1000 watt rms amp to run it then you could save space and still have a good amount of bass.

you think one 12 would work better than 2 10's? I was thinking 20" of air movement would be better than 12". Is that true or no? And my sony amp is great, dont know why everyone thinks its not good. It powered my 2 15s for a good 7 years now and they still hit hard as hell, most people cant stand sitting in the truck too long at full blast.

if you think your 7 year old sony is good you'll be shocked to hear 1500rms on a good 12....
you probably only pushing 400rms if that if its a 7 year old amp. plus those 15s arent strong sub either...

if you wanna spend up to 300 on a sub... get 1 12..
you should look getting a custom sub from team psi or look into:
audioque hdc312
dc audio level4 or level4xl
Ascendant Audio Havoc 12
FI BL12
RD Alpha or
SSA Xcon12 (maybe a lil over 300)

a true 1200-2000rms on any of these sub will blow your current system away with ease.
i remember changing my boys system who had 4 sony 15s in his yukon with 2 1000d's... he thought he had the loudest system around for a while til i had him switch his pos sony subs for 2 RD Alpha Max 15s with a memphis 4k. night a day difference.
like a lambo racing a tahoe LOL... just isnt fair to compare

ya and air movement isnt entirely dependent on cone size excursion plays a role as well and i havent seen a sony sub that has a lot of excursion. i think the one 12 on good power would be louder than you think. I had 2 15s in my old civic and switched to a kicker L7 12 which isnt the best sub out there but it hit just as hard and much cleaner than the 15s.

Sweet I will have to check it out, thanks! I saw a few 12's that were cheap because they were scratch and dent discounted. Might have to check em out.
