Does anyone else have a problem with water dripping out of the body side moldings for days after washing or rain? My 2012 LTZ is driving me crazy. I don't remember my 2010 LT doing that. Junior says he doesn't see it on the 2010 either. I'm not them off. Any suggestions besides buying an air compressor and blowing them out?

raress9596,

I’m sorry you are experiencing this issue with your vehicle. I recommend having it inspected for this condition. I assume there is a clog.

Please keep us posted.

LMAO...a "clog" really??? behind the bodyside molding..LMAO...good one Louis.

This is a common issue to all vehicles with bodyside moldings, they are not totally sealed so yes water and other CRAP can and will get behind it...PERIOD end of discussion.
GMT900 moldings have the adhesive tape on the top edge and bottom edge, nothing on the vertical sides(front edge/backedge) so short of sealing them or removing them you could try to blow them out...just like the mirrors that hold water for days after a good wash...LoL!

Clogged moldings...that is some funny sh*t right there...I use an electric leaf blower when drying off my Yukon-it gets alot of that water that is trapped behind moldings, mirrors, bottoms of doors, etc.

Worse thing is if you don't get the water out when it's wet it takes forever to get the dried drip marks off. I don't get it out of my moldings, but after a car wash it will drip down the back window from the spoiler or out of the rear view mirror sails. It's pretty typical stuff on these trucks.

I have to say tho, I've never had it run out of door moldings. I'm thinking they weren't pressed hard enough at the factory and there's air pockets in there that water collects in, and eventually drains out of.

Guess I never saw the drips when I owned the 2010 that my son has now because it's white. As the poster above mentioned I know that the moldings have two long horizontal parallel strips of double sided tape holding them on. I could always remove the moldings and retape them completely all around (including vertically) to prevent water from getting behind them with 3M double sided tape. Too bad GM couldn't do this for about .10 cents worth of tape. (GM customer service are you reading this, lol). And I also have water running down the hatch glass from the rear spoiler. I had that on every GM truck I ever owned which was quite a few but I learned to live with it. Well I guess water leaking on the outside is better than the water leak I had inside of my 2004 Avalanche. That's a whole long story by itself.

With all due respect do you think before you type? There has been several instances when your comments were totally asinine! Seriously dude think before you answer someones question, you are representing GM rite?

Well "Louis" isn't all wrong. In addition to the moldings dripping for 2 days after washing the rear doors are retaining water inside! I had that with my 2010 also. One day I heard water sloshing. I pulled out 1 pin that holds the bottom door seal and water came out like a fountain. I had to do that yesterday on the new Tahoe. Same thing, water came pissing out. I have to get a look under the doors and see if there's a drain or something under them. Fighting a bad cold right now and didn't feel up to it but I also didn't feel a drain when I ran my hand under the door. Years ago GM used to put plugs in the doors that I popped out of my cars to open up the factory drains.
