My outside drivers door handle does not make a satisfying mechanical "click" when opening. It works fine but feels very mushy.

The door handle itself has a normal range of motion perhaps its the part on the inside of the door that latches to the frame?

Any ideas on how to clean/lube this area to make it function more properly?

P.S. unsure if this belonged on interior or exterior.

Ok what year and model front or back door driver or passenger from inside or out? It should feel the same from both sides. If not the problem is in the handle. To lube any of there take the door panel off. Mushy is usually worn plastic parts so look at the linkage.

04' Tahoe. The feeling is most pronounced when opening the drivers door form the outside. I don't get the quite the same feel when opening the drivers door from the inside. What part of the outside plastic handle would look worn? Nothing visually looks worn from the outside.

I just had the door card off to install speakers in the front doors. Do you have to disassemble it more then that?

The handle on the outside may be cracked. Being plastic they crack on the bend from side to side. No more disassembled than speaker install. Start at the bottom of the mechanism and pull like opening the door if that’s fine go to next linkage and so on.
