As per the title, after a few minutes, my '04 Tahoe with dual zone heat and A/C (dual zone climate control?) starts blowing hot air out of the drivers side ONLY (NOT the passengers side) DESPITE the settings on controls. It does this even if the A/C is off or on. It continues to blow hot air (drivers side only) even if you turn the air off or on after it starts blowing hot air. It will continue to blow cold/ambient/A/C air out of the passengers side, though. HOWEVER....if I turn the Tahoe off, then immediately restart it, it'll blow out cold (A/C) air again...for a few minutes. I can again shut off/restart the Tahoe and it'll repeat the above. Any clue as to what's up with this, and how to go about fixing this?

I understand that this may very well be a long and drawn out process, and I very much appreciate any help/replies that I'll get!

I did some searching on the forums, but didn't find anything that was an exact match, so please forgive me if I've overlooked a thread on this something!

UPDATE: It will start blowing out heat when set to cold even if the A/C is not on. The ambient temp outside was 53 and I was enjoying the cool air coming through the vents (A/C was OFF) when it started blowing out hot air, just on the drivers side. So, apparently, it's doing this even when the A/C is off, so it's NOT JUST AN A/C ISSUE! Just my luck!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

If you want to go for a temp fix, you can pull the fuse under the hood for the HVAC with the truck off...let it sit for 2-3 minutes and put the fuse back in. Crank the truck and just let it sit for 2-3 minutes and cut it off...that should reset everything and might fix your problem for a little bit.

The Driver side temp actuator is the easiest to change, located in the front passenger floor, right next to the transmission hump. The Passenger side temp actuator is on the top of the dash, near the windshield.

I have the dual auto climate control, and my driver side started going hot. Resetting the system is a temporary fix, and eventually that won't get it back working. I did some reading, and the "correct" actuator (Dorman 604106) is listed on RockAuto for $85, but some people said the unit sold for the "mode door" (controls floor/vents/defrost) (ACDelco 1573952) was the exact same unit, but had a big plastic cam/gear with it. Since it was only $41 on RockAuto, and $36 on Amazon, and they both have good return policies, I gave it a shot. I ordered the $36 one from Amazon, pulled the plastic cam/gear off (just grab and pull, no clips or glue), installed it, then RESET AND RECALIBRATED the HVAC system. Has worked perfect.

If you pull the dash, you can use the cheaper ACDelco 1573952 for the mode door, driver temp, and recirculate. I'm not sure if it works for the passenger side temp, but I haven't gotten that far yet.
