I just took it off, doesn't appear to be present or necessary on the 97.

Had to swap that solenoid, they were slightly different where the vacuum hose connects, thats why I was struggling.

Need oil lines.

Can you provide GM part numbers for the following:

Oil cooler lines identified in them drawings as 12, 13, fittings 8, 9, 15

Trans cooler lines 12, 13, 16, fittings 6, 7, 8, 10, 14, 19, 20

This most recent trans diagram is inaccurate (for my application) for 2 reasons.

-my oil lines come into the trans on a slight angle
-I am attempting to use the external trans cooler as well, as depicted in the first diagram you provided a few days ago

Engine cooler pic is good.

Called the dealer and ordered the trans lines, gotta go pick them up in the morning. Oil lines - napa had them in stock. Got em on the truck.

Trans cooler lines - dealer told me they dont make the line that goes from the lower radiator port to the trans, said I had to make it myself. I'm going to wire wheel the one I have and shoot some rust inhibitive paint on it to prolong it's life and reuse it. Got all new fittings and clips coming.

Just repaired a broken power steering wire, new fuel filter, got all my fluids and stuff today. Oil filter in. Buttoning up some of the smaller things.

Heading back out now to pull the grill off and to mount the Aux Oil Cooler and get the radiator in. Gonna get the oil lines hooked up and fluid in. Get the rad hoses and heater hoses in, Dexcool in. Fan shrouds, fan. All going to go in hopefully tonight. I'll get some pics up when I'm done for the night.

no tune needed but wouldnt not hurt either. you need to verify that the alignment between crank and cam sensor is correct. also need to perform a case relearn procedure because the crankshaft sensor is not the original one. and once running performance may suffer a tiny bit while pcm goes thru its learning phase but should be normal in a few miles or so.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Variation Learn Procedure CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SYSTEM VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Apply the vehicle's parking brake.
  3. Block the drive wheels.
  4. Close the hood.
  5. Place the vehicle's transmission in Park (AT) or Neutral (MT).
  6. Idle the engine until the coolant temperature reaches 65°C (150°F).
  7. Turn OFF all the accessories.
IMPORTANT: If the Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Learn Procedure cannot be completed successfully, refer to DTC P1336 CKP System Variation Not Learned for additional diagnostic information.

  1. Enable the Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn Procedure with the scan tool.
IMPORTANT: After the ignition switch is turned to the CRANK position, the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) must see a change in the state of brake switch (Released to Applied) to run the learn procedure. Also, the service brakes and the parking brake must be held throughout the duration of the learn procedure.

  1. Apply and hold the service brakes.
IMPORTANT: While the learn procedure is in progress, release the throttle immediately when the engine starts to decelerate. The engine control is returned to the operator and the engine will respond to throttle position after the learn procedure is complete.

  1. Slowly raise the engine speed to 4,000 RPM.
  2. Immediately release the throttle when the engine speed decreases.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition for 15 seconds after the learn procedure is completed successfully.

K. Everything hooked up as it should be (I hope), all fluids in, just tried to hit it.

Tried to cycle the fuel pump, it's not cycling until the key is turned off?

Usual cycles when the key is turned to the on position.

Why would it be backwards?

Also something wrong with the starter.. Dad did that part, lets see what's wrong. Gonna detach, inspect, and reset.

Acts like its not lined up or something, it spins but grinds and doesn't engage properly to turn motor over.

Think the starters are slightly different.

Going to swap them and see what happens.

Any input on the fuel pump concern?

pcm powers fuel pump relay and when switch is moved to on pump should prime for two seconds. exactly what positions does it tun on and off if applicable.
