Quick question is there a way to tell what date a DTC was triggered and is there such a thing as a permanent DTC history. That shows history of when codes were thrown?
Thanks for yourtime and help

Not that I've ever found on multiple scan tools.. No "time" stamp.
And it depends on how the codes were cleared and when the last
relearn procedures have been done.

What DTC are you getting ????
A lot of body DTC's get triggered when a battery is bad or getting changed.
If that's the case and the codes didn't get cleared , they will stay in there
but not trigger a check engine light at all... Best to just clear everything out
and drive it for a while (depending on situation)

When a DTC is set, the computer takes a short recording called a Failure Record that shows what was going on when the code set. I think that has a time stamp. Otherwise, the code will be listed as historical or current and the computer will say it's been X amount of days and hours since the last DTC was set.

You can see these things with a Tech-2 and maybe other bi-directional scan tools.

Thanks for the information. I am very skeptical that the dealer may have cleared the P0420 code. I got shortly after purchasing the vehicle. It just seems odd to me. That it happened that way.
