If the Burb is a 1500 base, wouldn't you end up with an expensive high torque half ton? Do they rework the suspension, brakes, the frame? The 7.3 (best diesel ever) would pull an Expedition apart. The Excursion was a 250. There's so much other fun I could have for 135k! But everybody likes what they like.

What is the advantage of the Duramax engine? I look at the specifications. The Duramax engine has lower HP than the existing 6.2 liter producing 420 HP. Is the advantage of the Duramax the higher torque of the engine? Just curious.

The new Duramax's produce over 900 ft lbs or torque. Any of the older ones (LBZ, LML, LMN, ETC) with a "tune" can easily make 500 horsepower and 1000 foot pounds of torque. The LMLs have made over 700 horsepower and 1200 foot pounds of torque. A stock LBZ, the unique engine used in the classics, made 360 hp and 660 torque. Very conservative and plenty of power.

Did you see how fast the 2017 Suburban went to 100mph in Duraburb's latest video?

They always change to the 14-bolt rear and 8-lug hubs but may use 6-lug adapters so the more popular wheels can be used. The other mods are arranged with the customer. The chassis is plenty strong. I lifted the rear of my truck (1500) off the ground a couple of months ago from just the last few inches of the frame near the rear bumper. The body never protested, the chassis never creaked nor groaned either. I was skeptical and worried that I might damage something and then very impressed.
