It's not impossible, but it would be a hugely intensive project that wouldn't come close to justifing the cost. It's just one of those things that allows you to have something that very few other people have. For starters, the frame would need to be totally reworked and strengthened to accomodate the engine and allison tranny.

The frame actually does not need any work....it is mostly all in the trans hump and core support. The core is about 2" taller for the intercooler and radiator and the hump is not near big enough for an Ally to fit under. The guy in Apopka has a website and is on "the Dieselplace.com" under TDIguy. He has done a bunch and you can't tell them from factory. The only thing I don't care for is the way he does the body. He uses body lift blocks in the front and uses smaller ones towards the back, kinda like 3", 2", and 1" to make the room up front.

A little off topic but I drove a GL320 when I was at the benz dealership the other day and it was great. I think detroit would see much greater adoption of diesels if they would start making them as smooth and as quiet as the europeans. Not everyone wants to emulate a trucker. In this size vehicle the benefits of diesel are tremendous. I'll probably always be a gas, ass and grass man myself but the benz was very appealing.

I'd have to buy a 2500 burban for that swap, comes with the proper running gear and it'd be alot easier. I'm contemplating a goofy idea for my denali, looking at wrecked c5 donor corvettes for an independent rear setup :D
