Ecu needed .. Help

Dear friends,

A good friend of mine has a problem with the engine ECU (as shown in the picture)

We couldn't find used or parts to fix it.

Please help us

those connector are supposed to have seals on them as well as the rest of the body so it can not be penetrated. is it actually damaged? and how?

What are those screws on the heat sink? and replacement computers are all over the place but they need to be programmed for your specific drivetrain and vehicle certification like vin # gear ratio, tranny type and so forth. it's not like the part # is not right in front of you. gm 16250279

I am new at this used to the *** system only replacement no programing needed.

Ok, so what is your advice?

By the way exlint observation I asked and told that this part was taken out and taken apart trying to fix the part but they couldn't find the need part to fix it locally.

xan, it is a 98-99 ecu for the vortec 350.

check with your local parts store or dealer which can get and program them or if you have non where you live ebay the part number and look in the titles for "programmed for your vin" contact a few of them tell them were you live, what you need and make sure they can program the vin, tire size, gear ratio, 2wd 4wd, auto man and such. regardless there is a process called case relearn that needs to be done when truck is running again to get the pcm to learn the specific wave form from your crank sensor. it can cuase headaches down the line if not done and if you were to have a misfire problem it would throw back false data on the problem causing a wild goose chase. a high end scanner or dealer tech2 can do this.

And yes there is the case of miss fire!

I will try my luck with ebay and get back to you.

Ok, as far as I have witnessed my self:

There is hestation (as my friend complain) so I cleaned the throttle and the MAF sensor.
Result smoth drive but there is hestation when the car stopped.

And something new came up if it has been driven for some time and parked it won't start agsin until it has been few hours (the "security" stays on won't go away)

for the hesitation i would clean out the same and well the iac and egr ports to start. as for the light. when they engine did finally start did the light go out. or does it flash and when? if it stays on the whole drive or comes on during a drive something is screwy with the passlock system. which is almost entirely separate system. the light normally goes off after engine start. the engine system needing to rest is more like a component overheating that can no restart right away. the trick is to try finding out what sub system boot up when key is turned on. does pump charge the pressure and smoothly, does the ignition system get power, do specific dash lights go on or off in a specific way. things like that. as for the ecu if they did that they are responsible for the damage there is not much they can do inside of it short of having someone familiar with the process repair solder joints.

You are on spot, the "security" light won't turn off! and we couldn't start the car. Is there away to cancel this system and what it does?

It starts by a normal key it is not coded!!
