My coworker has a hybrid and has to plug in after work dauly and its on the charger til he leaves for work next morning otherwise battery wont make it. 20 miles 1 way to work. Batteries have never liked cold weather, even your standard alkaline ones. Same coworker says his battery life drops nearly double in winter during cold weather vs warm weather. Youtube videos show trucks of same brand/ model with 1 having a gasser and the other battery. Range in batt truck is 250 miles but when they tow the exact trailer, the batt truck uses 1% batt life per mile on road vs gasser still having half a tank of gas. So not sure banks is 0 for 3. Real world experiences have shown evs are not ready for primetime. Have decades yet til they are(if we dont run out of resources to make batteries with first, as lithium is a fairly rare material and most is in China). Everyone believes their own opinion and this thread wont change anyones minds. I think at one day evs will be the primary vehicle, but it will be decades from now and likely trillions in dollars spent to get it there. There is so much that needs to be advanced, upgraded, modified, added, installed, maintained before its ready not just the vehicles.

Yes I have. I have owned Teslas and other Evs. Believe what you want.

No manufacturer is currently developing next gen ice engines. So yes EV is winning along with other high efficiency drive units like hydrogen combustion , diesel, hybrids etc.

The f150 lightening can't tow more then 60 miles? Battery life drops in half under 40degrees?

Yeah im gonna leave it at that. I cant fight all the misinformation myself lol.

Watch hoovies garage on YouTube, he literally made 2 videos on this with his new lightning. So he got rid of it and the next day after the dealer bought it the battery crapped out.

Lol u pretty much proved my point on the lightning with towing. And all your battery range in cold weather is ev cars. This forum is about big suv EV’s weighing probably 6000 lbs+? With 4-6 people and possibly luggage weighing it down as well. I’m just saying the first 5-10 years of GM and Ford doing EV’s is not going to go well. Majority of people on this forum will look at big suvs and trucks, and the f-150 lightning is not doing well so far when u wana use it for truck stuff. If u just drive back and forth to work and never tow and charge at home then sure it’s ok. But long distance travel and or tow, bad news.

@DuraYuk Both hoovies garage and TFL truck did tow test with lightning only hauling 4000-6000lbs and got about 75 miles on a full charge, they had to stop at like 60 or so to charge cuz they were getting low range warnings. That’s real world tests. You can look them up on YouTube. Sorry if my numbers are not exact but they are pretty close.

Where did you get those stats? You're 0 for 3
Real world videos by guys who just bought f-150 Lightning’s and hummers. TFL trucks, pickup truck plus talk, hoovies garage, all them have done pretty extensive reviews online with those trucks.
This seems like wasted effort, people are either pro EV or not. Kinda like other topics in this country but let’s not get going on that.

So towing up a steep mountain in the cold is real world? Is that how you determine your mpg? Lol. Hoovies? Lol nvm.

Wouldn't that be real world for someone who tows up a steep mountain in cold weather?
You tow up a steep mountain loaded in a gas or diesel? Hate to break it to you but range becomes abysmal.

It's evident some don't here so they think the ev with less range in those conditions is some outliers.

It's typical for a gasser to get 6mpg when loaded towing. Sometimes less.

That's why I said it's misinformation because it is.

@DuraYuk this is a pretty basic one and his mileage drops dramatically. And please stop with the “misinformation”, your starting to sound like cnn.

No one said it wouldn't drop. Have you towed before? Why is that surprising then?

Its misinformation because you are saying a vehicle with a nominal range of 300 somehow is broken when it can't get that range when loaded.

So you are trying to misinform by choosing and picking your data points. Similar to how you said the cold reduces your range down to nothing after i showed you charts to the contrary.

How do you think mpg is determined? Hoovie is entertainment. Tfl is more respectable but if you only gained that range was reduced up a very steep mountain in the cold then I think you missed the point of their video completely.

It sucks because rather then having some real discussion you have resorted to under table politics. This being a forum about vehicles and not politics i will leave the discussion here as I don't come here for that nonsense.

Take care !
