So ironically today is my first day posting and here is the issue that I just created.

I was pulling my redtop back out of a project truck, after throwing it back into the tahoe I realized it was dead. like 6volts dead. So I grabbed a charger/jumper and jumped it, got the tahoe running and everything seemed fine. However I noticed that if the tahoe wasn't running that the volt meter registered at 6.somthing v again.

Pulled the optima to go shock and charge it and threw in a basic truck battery.

I go to turn it on, everything comes on as normal.. go to start it and "clunk". complete power loss to the dash and no start or even attempt to start. Cycle the key and it comes on as normal but does it all again.. and again...

Pull off connections, clean threads, spray with contact cleaner, re dielectric grease it all, new lugs and it appears to be good to go. Turns on. Runs everything is fine... except I am getting all kinds of warning lights( Battery, 4x4 service, washer fluid, low fuel and abs) and my fuel gauge is on E... and it no longer has the box surrounding P R N D L . I did reset the trip ODO to zero in case this fix takes a moment and I need to monitor the gas consumption...20160811_155537-1600x900.jpg 20160811_155542-1600x900.jpg

I try to trouble shoot. check all connections, check the major fuses but the problem persists.

SO I go work on actual work shit for an hour or more while the truck sits with no battery in it.

Meanwhile the redtop has been shocked, charged and is ready to go back in.

installs as normal however the problem persists. Dash has gone crazy.

I did throw a programmer on it to read the codes and it tells me to start in the off position, then to the on position but not running. It is at this point the programmer fails to connect saying that the truck is not in the run position... even though according to the key, and the accessories it is.

Thoughts guys and gals?

Found this thread and tried to trouble shoot what they were discussing. No luck.

Went through every fuse (any one else here NEED to have them all readable in the same direction? )

No luck.

Called my neighbor over for a beer and to take a look and brain storm with me. While showing him the symptions they disappeared and reappeared in under 10 seconds.

Then i decided to pull the pcm to check for a dislodged pin or something of that nature.

Bingo.

Liquid had gotten into the pin area and had created a bit of corrosion and a mess.

A bit of crc electronic contact cleaner and cleaned everything, case, cover, seals ect. Re assembled and problem is gone... last time i washed the engine bay was over 2 weeks ago.

Hopefully this helps someone.
