Well my tranny went out in my 1996 4x4 yukon and I found a tranny out of a 99 4x4 to put in. Got the onld one out and put them side-by-side and they look different. After some research I read they made an early mode and a late model. Question is will it work? Please help.

the early has a one piece trans case the late has a two piece case. I'm not 100%, but I think the elec plug is different too. not saying that the pins cant be swapped, just can't remember.

just replaced the tranny in my 97. For 96 and 97 the tranmission is the same it is the 4l60e. you have to find one from one of these to years or you will waste your time and money. I literally just got done replacing mine took her for a spin last night.

unknown at this time.
The case will likely be different as well as the size of the converter. Plugs and wiring should be compatible as well. You may need the flexplate from a block that was using the newer two-piece case .
