Always use a pressure washer and hold it at a distance from the engine. The dirt and grime are blown away easily.

Also it just a effective to use Simple Green. Use gloves though........ butoxynol2 is no joke

For extremely dirty, oil caked parts, I use generic heavy duty oven cleaner from walmart. It's HARDCORE though, don't get it on your skin, don't breath the fumes, and don't let it sit on plastic/rubber materials.

It's kind of a last resort though. If engine cleaner, simple green, and a pressure washer won't do it, this stuff will dissolve pretty much anything.

I'm so paranoid about water I use a cheap water bottle with a sport top and squirt the degreaser off lol
