Engine Oil Cooler Lines

I noticed one of my oil cooler lines has a very slight leak. There is a drop of oil on the plastic road guard pan and the line is slightly oily at the dimple in the metal over rubber part. Is this something that should be fixed immediately or do I have time. I have 27k miles. I know parts are hard to come by as well. Any thoughts?

Depends on why it's leaking. A small drip probably isn't a big deal but if the material is comprised in some way, it could fail when driving and be a catastrophic. I think I'd fix or at least have a qualified mechanic look at it ASAP to give you peace of mind. An engine is a terrible thing to waste..

I’m just think I’ll change it myself. They are only 50 bucks. It’s time going to the dealer, having them say “yep it’s leaking”. Then the standard “we need to order the parts”, then a return trip to have it fixed. Either wait a few hours or get a loaner. So IMO I think it’s just easier if I do it. Take protection shroud off, wheel off and wheel well cover off. Has anyone done this on a newer model? I have seen YouTube videos of older model trucks.

If you'd never owned a previous year model.you won't know this but in all actuality they change very little from year to year.

Ok. Great. Last one I owned was 2002 Yukon. Didn’t have one thing happen the whole time I owned it. It was a rock. Sold it to my brother who still uses it. It just needs a paint job though. Lol

If it's the same line as mine that is leaking the problem with doing the job is not the connections at the radiator. The problem is getting access to where the oil lines connect farther back in the engine bay. I believe it's up behind and above the transmission. I have put mine off because I can't get to those fittings very easily. Please let us know how it goes and any pics you can would be helpful too. Good luck.
