Engine swap capability

So I'm new n I'm not sure if there is a thread about this but I'm trying to find out the best engine swap options for my 1996 chevy tahoe. Best meaning relatively cheap (under 4k?) Making decent power(higher than the stock 155) while still not being too hard to swap. Thanks ahead

Your 96 makes more power than what you posted. Easier swap would be a stroker Vortec engine. More difficult would be a late model gm engine like a 4.8 or 5.3 liter LM or LQ series gen III small block. More difficult yet some sort of diesel swap, in line 4 or 6 or even bigger. Somewhere in between the above is where the big block Chevy fits.
