Engine tapping - manifold bolts

I started hearing a tapping from the engine. Realized a couple manifold bolts have their heads broken off. Installed the Dorman manifold clamp 917-107

I tried for a while and couldn’t get the bolts into the back of the engine started. My son-in-law came by and took care of it in 30 minutes. Wow... it has never been this quiet!

good to hear. Does this clamp work as a stop gap while the bolts are broken?

They make several clamps for the GMC engine I’ve seen people that have said they are successful for years. I have 170k and don’t drive it a lot so I’d prefer not to remove the heads

Yea, the clamps work and can last indefinitely and then if heads are removed for any reason, that is the perfect time to address the broken bolt.
