Hi,

It's now few month i fell the engine started to had issues to start. But in the end it would always rev with one key turn.

3 weeks ago it decided not to rev at all. I changed the battery connectors and changed the ground strap with a clean new one and rechargerd the battery (just in case). I also hit the starter with a hammer.

This evening, i tried to start it again. I hear the "clic" of the starter and the engine turn slowly (for half a second I can see the seprentine belt going for half an inch and i hear a smal sound like a "oui oui oui" coming from under the hood.

Any idear what could cause this ? Dead starter ?

I bought a new battery for my 'Hoe today. Was a mistake : terminals are reversed : + on the left and - on the right. Wires are not long enough to fit the terminals. F.... !

Then I got under the truck (thankfully I'm thin enough to go under it without raising it). and tried to reove the starter fro a cleaning and testing.

Wrong idea. The last screw refused to move.

I removed the starter and ask my wife to ignite the engine with the key while I measure the current voltage arriving at the solenooide terminal. I have juice.

The starter even functionned as it should. Sadly once put back in place, it does like before : move the engine for a 1/16th of a revolution and a "shee wee wee wee" noise came from the starter (I guess).

WHat's happenning?

im not sold on the starter as being the culprit because ive had to replace a bad starter before in an old blazer i had and it made a grinding noise not a sweaky noise like your describing

A sound clip would be helpful even though it's not super easy to get the exact sound on a recording!
And Chris, don't let one type of sound fool you, starters are all different from each other so can't pin one sound tone of failure on them!
