So, shopping around for random things for the truck as usual and came across those led strips that people use for running, turn and reverse. I was thinking of getting a clear esky lens or even opening up the one i have and putting the strip in the 3rd brake light lens. Not sure if id hook the running light portion, but maybe the L/R turn signals, brake and Reverse led up. What you guys think?

so take this

And install led bar and make it do something like this

Most light pieces for these trucks (apart from the headlight) are very difficult to open up without messing them up. But If you do manage to do it, it will be a very good mod. Also there is no way that 3rd brake light is fitting in an oven so you would have to use a heat gun or something.

Yea i know about oem, but maybe the putco one i have is easier and can be heat guned. I do however have access to a Heat lamp that my body shop uses. Maybe i can crack it open with that.

this is one of those IMO comments but I would say No. I hate those LED strips under tailgates. Looks like an afterthought. Don't junk your Hoe up...it looks really good the way it is.

It wouldn't go under the Hoe. It'd go inside the 3rd brake light.

it wouldnt be under the tailgate. It would be Hidden in the 3rd brake light housing. No intention of using the running light cause that would confuse people if i was braking or not. Hook in the Left and right signals so left and right portion of the 3rd brake light would flash and lastly either the center or the whole light bar light up white when reverse. Im just concered about Braking Led Brightness during the day.
