So, I've been struggling with this engine knock in my 09 Yukon Denali. I've decided to take it into the dealer. Service adviser almost with out hesitation thinks I have a collapsed lifter. So maybe in a week I'll know for sure.

I also will have my exhaust manifold bolts replaced as I have a broken bolt that has sheared off. I'd rather not go with the OE bolts from the dealer. Parts guy says replacement bolts are a upgraded quality from what left the factory.

Has anyone had good luck with the OE replacement bolts? I think aftermarket will be the better decision for peace of mind. I think I'll order a set of ARP bolts. Anyone have the ARP part number for set of 12? I could only find sets of 5. 15 ARP bolts are still cheaper than 12 GM bolts.

Thanks

If there is an upgrade on the bolts then the oe bolts should also be an upgrade but the aftermarket bolts will likely be cheaper. See if there is a FELPRO listing for them.

I just us a bracket to fix a broken bolt. 35$ well spent. If the broken bolt is one one of the corners try it.

These are specific to our motors

Some marvel mystery oil mixed in the motor oil will loosen up most stuck lifters.

Yeah, didn't pay close attention and post to the wrong section, However still good info. Not sure the mystery oil will fix my lifters as I'm past the normal tapping sound. She is knocking pretty good. It may quiet them down some. I have an extended warranty so I hope for all new lifters and maybe cam. I'm hoping that the broken bolt will be covered in the repair as the parts guy thought the old bolts wouldn't be used anyway. Either way I'll have ARP installed or do it myself once the truck is fixed. Question is will the dealer charge me to remove the broken bolt due to my coverage is only drive train?
