Bought it at $1400 because it was good deal. I usually don't get the warranty, but with the high cost of the YD XL $1400 was a very small percentage to add to the price. In addition, we will have the truck long term and don't want to think about maintenance for a while. As stated prior only get the GMC warranty.

Warranties don't cover "maintenance."

Can you post the specifics of your warranty? How much more protection are you getting than the B2B 36mo/36K and 5yr/100k powertrain?

I generally buy the extended warranty, as I usually keep the vehicle for 10 years or so. I have had several instances of major repairs where having the extended warrant was financially beneficial.

I wait about 11 months before I buy, as the 7 years is from the date of purchase. I buy the policy at a discount from Ken Fichtner at Rimrock Chevrolet in Laurel MT. He is the best source of info on Corvettes, and regularly posts on the Corvetteforum.com. He has always beaten my local dealer's warranty pricing.

I bought one for my escalade and it was soooo worth it after about 5-6k in repairs at the end of the 3 years I owned it. Ended up buying one for my Denali as well. And I'm sure as hell going to get one for my future 2015+ model too.

WOW!
This topic seems to go between, NO, not worth it, just another way for the dealer to make more money off you, to YES, worth it, saved a lot of money buying it.

Sooo if you want to have a problem with the vehicle, buy the extended warranty, cuz it seems like everyone that bought one used it.

For me it boils down to the fact that I rarely keep cars long enough for it to matter. The thing comes with a 5 year, 100,000 mile power train warranty and that's probably going to cover my use of the thing. I've been known to buy additional bumper-to-humber coverage in order to make that match the power train but I honestly don't think I've ever used it.

I ran shops and saw lots of warranties. I never recommended them to anyone. The insurance people know the percentages are always in their favor. For every person I have heard get their money back out of an ext warranty I can show you 100 that didn't. A discounted one from a dealer is ********. Anyone can say that. It is not discounted. They can make your vehicle sit tore down to wait for an inspector to come and give an ok and if he/she does not then you are on the hook for the inspection. I told all my customers this that asked me my opinion about extended warranties.
I told them they should be saving money from each check in to a pool to cover maint and repairs and if they did they should be able to cover problems and be way ahead at the end. Don't buy the booze/drugs/cigs and spend wisely and save and you will always always come out way ahead with your vehicle instead of buying the extended warranty. Ok, I am off my soap box now.
