So I got the Haynes manual for our trucks and it's a real POS. I read the reviews online for both and it's actually supposed to be better than the Chiltons manual.

I have located the factory service manual for sale online that deals specifically with our trucks, but it runs about $160. Do you guys have a better source to buy it cheaper, or is that a normal price for one. A CD version would be ok, but I'm not paying more than $20 bucks for it as I really like to have the manual with me when I'm working on it.

Thanks in advance

Typically they are much more detailed and most of the time give bolt sizes, torque specs and helpful information regarding that particular repair, rather than having to figure everything out on your own and check tables in the back if they're even included.

Also, over the years I've found the Haynes and Chilton manuals to be completely wrong regarding wiring diagrams. The fact that they're covering 1/2 ton trucks from 1988-2000 should pretty much tell you they aren't going to have everything for each particular model. The information I bought the Haynes manual for is completely vague not helpful at all.

The factory service manual set is 4 huge books and each one is bigger than the Haynes or Chilton.

I did find them on eBay for $99. Thanks haks310

No problem.

Like I said I was looking at getting them a while back. But I don't have anything mechanical to fix on the 'Hoe right now so they can wait lol

I've found Haynes manuals to be complete crap, but that's just my experience. The Chilton's manuals seem to be a little more comprehensive. I know they're not the greatest, but I have a Chilton's manual that seems to cover most things pretty well.

That having been said, I think I'll hop on the bandwagon and ****** a factory service manual as well, but 100 bucks is a lot of money, so it'll have to wait a little while.

Heh, believe it or not Nissan did that for me once...I paid them like $150 for the manual, and since they were out of print, they went to a copy place and had the entire manual copied for me and put in a plastic binding, then mailed it from Japan. Ahh...the things I do to actually have a paper manual in my hand.
