I've noticed you guys are tapping your camera and monitor power sources separately. What is the reason for that and why can't you tap the same power source for both?

There's a couple different reasons why somebody would do this. Personally my screen has more than one input so I dont only want it to come on with the camera.

Others might not want to have to run another wire all the way to the back (yes, i know the video cable needs to be ran still so it wouldn't really be extra work) - Also if ur running a cable from the front to back or vice versa there's more of a chance for it to be pinched somewhere or anything to happen

missed this thread...thats the same exact setup i used on ours. only thing is i notched that bumper pad out so the camera fits back in a little farther just so the wife didnt bang it with strollers etc.....

and for the diagram on the screen, its on the monitor. not the camera. turn the camera upsdide down or sideways and the diagram stays still. i was going to use one of the monitors at my frt door of my house on the AC power supply it came with in order to check the video feed from the security camera mounted there but didnt want the diagram on it so i didnt get one.

I did two trucks this way, my dad's silverado and this one. the silverado uses a round camera mounted in a round hole and talk about noticing if its off just a bit, since the diagram is in the monitor, if u get it crooked the lines really show u how crooked haha

did u use a relay or something in order to prevent it from coming on when u unlock and the perimeter lighting comes on? i tied our monitor into the a pillar wire and just used that as a trigger wire for a ign switched relay so our monitor doesnt come on when u unlock.

I bought the same one that you have (same camera same guy in eBay), installed it and day time was great but at night, it's flickering with green screen like someone turn it on and off. Contacted the seller, he send me difference one difference kind and still same issue to I trash them all. Don't want to waste more time on China Made so I spend on this one was great review on Amazon but found it cheaper on Best Buy (local pickup available), got it for $129. This is not wide, it's only 138 degrees horizontal and 92 degrees vertical, but I like it since it use CCD instead of CMOS.

I think it depend on where you put the camera at. I had tried with 170 degree camera on the same spot and the view wasn't that great. But if I move them down to the trailer hitch its better, the angle is a bit bench because it's too wide and some time it hard to know the accurate of the distance. So right now I have two installed; one for backup and other (170 degree at the hitch) for viewing while driving, my kid love it because she get to see what behind now :)

The images quality is not that great compare to Sony XA-R800C and not sure about the waterproof since I placed it inside the hitch but I’m sure it’s won’t last long with a few car watches. The build quality if very good, it’s all metal with no LED so it’s look cleaner, not fog like my first two eBay cameras.
