Finally doing rear seal job

Haven't had to do much maintenance this last year ever since resealing most all of the engine gaskets, but still had a small leak from the rear seal. Finally pulled the trans today. This week I'll be putting on a new rear cover/seal, new torque converter seals (24237531 & 24219390) and a new torque converter for good measure. Also doing a new barbell on the rear of the engine while I'm in there. Should finally be leak free after this.

242k miles on this 2007 Denali. Deleted the VVT about a year ago and put in a small cam. Probably will be selling the truck this Spring as I just picked up another, an 08 Escalade ESV in Pearl White with only 140k.

Good job. I did this on my LQ4/4L80e 06 Suburban last year, but on jackstands in my backyard. I was at 250k and 10k later it's still nice and dry underneath.

I also replaced the engine barbell and trans front oil pump seal and torque converter lock up o ring. O'Reilly's gave me the wrong oil pump front seal, so I had to find the correct part number myself and go to the next store to find the right part. But other than that, went smoothly. I used the Sac City centering tool BTW.

Did you use the Sac City billet barbell, too? I used theirs on my 800.

That's good to know. I didn't realize that Sac City made that. Will consider on the next time I do that job (probably on my swapped 5.3 on my 99 Silverado as I think that's also starting to seep too).

Nice. Mine is due too. Wish I knew an independent mechanic who worked out of his house or for a GM dealership

Are those the Cadillac CTS brake calipers?

They are the PPV 16" brakes. Had them for a year now and still love them.

Been just chipping away at this after work this week. Got the trans bolted back up with a new torque converter. Transfer case went back in with a new output shaft seal (89059495). There's a chance it all gets wrapped up tonight.

Are you sure you still have VVT enabled on that engine? The back of that cam says Cam Motion and I'm 99% sure they make only 3-bolt cams.

Hard to make out the specs but it looks like it might be their Stage 2 Truck cam based on the 212 & 220 that I can see - most likely the 'drop-in' version:
