As some of you know, I've just got a new 2002 Z71 project going. This thing has zero rust and I'm just ecstatic about it. Needs bodywork but I'm not worried about that.
I've pulled all the carpet to give a really good deep cleaning and I found that the rubber/foam heat shield under the carpet turned into peanut brittle and broke into 20,000 pieces. You can see the foam stayed behind though. Any suggestions on how I would handle this? Should I find an exact replacement or just use some generic roll and stick firewall shield? Ignore it and just put the carpet back in? My other Tahoe and Yukon didn't have this issue at all.
